These historical events definitely still impact our society today. We see it still happening but it has evolved to look like something else. For example, in the video about the gasoline baths, you see the fear of Mexicans & 'what they're bringing with them' then and we are experiencing that now. AS the saying goes, "you repeat what you don't repair". I'd also like to add to that quote that "you repeat what you don't acknowledge and repair". In order for a problem to be fixed, you have to accept that it is a problem and this country has not done so. Hence the reason why this continues. I was saddened to see how social workers were part of the removal of Native children from their homes and cultures. It is a sad piece of history of this profession.
