Reflect on the discussion about history, our foundational structures, the "redlining" of families of color out of the opportunity for economic advancement, the connection between poverty, educational opportunity, and incarceration. Are you able to see those connections?
The connection is clear. The pathway to generational wealth was cut off for people of color hence they were not able to build wealth. the funding of schools from property tax and a continued reflection of that. Underfunded schools in majority-minority neighborhoods lead to more dropout rates and people of color being incarcerated at a higher rate.
This insidious pattern was created by design to intensify the oppression.
