"As you move to the next segment of this module, reflect on this question: Do you think these historical events, rules, and laws still impact our society today? What are your thoughts after viewing these videos?"
I cant even say I'm surprised by this history of racism. It clearly still impacts our society today. I also think many white people don't know this history.
I totally agree, that's how I feel as well.
All of the videos were very powerful. I was familiar with some of the historical events such as Black Wall Street and Japanese internment camps. I was not aware of the border gasoline cleansing until watching these videos. It was incredibly disturbing to me to see how the U.S. provided research and helpful information that supported the extermination of millions of Jews in Nazi Germany. I have done quite a bit of reading about the historical racism perpetrated by whites against Indians. That being said, I was so disturbed reading about the development of schools for children and the ways in which they were torn from their families. These videos provided information that I may have been somewhat aware of, but not the extent to which they were carried out. Watching a child and other Indians testify before congress made me cry and take some time off to process.
