Redlining definitely has is long lasting effects today. Systematically people of color are still denied housing loans or have higher mortgages to pay than their white counterparts. In terms of maintaining status quo....nobody wants to give up their power. Who wants to share with person who directly contributed to your own wealth and power? That needs to change. More must be done to ensure the change and persons in power and institutions need to have more accountability in regards to their part in this matter and foster an environment of equity instead of inequity.
