Redlining makes me so angry because as stated, the health implications are massive. Living in an area with increased air and water pollution leads to asthma, cancer, allergies, etc. These diagnoses increase healthcare costs for the person which adds insult to injury for people who are trapped in lower income jobs, less education, less opportunities overall. Food desserts further compound and programs like WIC and Food Stamps that encourage poor quality foods further compound the problem as the people cannot get the nutrients to improve their health.
