I found hearing about how we educate/do not educate our children/population about racism throughout time disturbing and also believe this to contribute largely to where we are today. I was privileged enough to attend college and graduate school, something that is not afforded to many people in this country. Without this higher education I would have not become aware of inequalities throughout history as this was not openly taught and revealed during grade school. Instead of telling the entire story about founders of this country we glaze over the "bad" and glorify them. The polarization of people today will continue to persist until we have more honest discussions and revelations of what has brought us here. What horrifies me the most about human beings, including myself, is the question of whether or not I would feel motivated for people to be treated equally even without the small bit of education that I do have?
