I found each of these videos to be incredibly eye opening and disturbing. Learning that the term race, at first, had nothing to do with skin color, but instead kinship, showed how much the evil ideas of others and influenced others. I find it heartless and have developed extreme guilt for being of white race after watching Native American children be ripped out of their families to be raised the “white way.” It was disturbing to see that only white people could become citizens. America was meant to be a country of opportunities and freedom. That was a lie to all that weren’t white. It was embarrassing to see that individuals are still discriminated against, due to race, when they just want to buy a home and raise their families. I was sickened to see that Black slaves were used as prop in medical experiments. That they were not even seen as living, breathing, feeling, human beings. That their pain was not considered or acknowledged. It was also sickening to hear about the US’s concentration camps, that inspired Nazi camps, that forced immigrants, mostly Mexicans to strip, bath in gasoline or be gassed, shave, fear being burned, and women being humiliated while naked. Also, to see that camps, prisons were continued with Japanese American individuals, simply due to their race and nothing due to their character, morals. I am embarrassed to be white knowing this history. Lastly, zip code should not decide health. All individuals should have access to the same level of quality health.
