These topics are hard to comprehend and understand. What I mean by that is- is that people targeted people of color, ripped them of their culture, removed them from their families and treated them as second class citizens and "unclean" and the general population didn't see the wrong in it. I am always amazed, disppaointed and saddened to see how white priveledge can often manifest into "it's not happening to me, so I don't care" or just a general lack of humanity, empathy and kindness towards others who are different than us. I feel very lucky to have had an education where my hisotry teachers showed the ugly side of American hisotry- meaning how white Europeans wiped out native people, enslaved Africans, and that the" good ol' days" weren't really good unless you were a WASP. These videos make me angry in that it makes it seem we have not come very far in the battle against racism and bringing equality and equity to all people.
