The content in Module 1 was certainly eye opening and very important to know. It was disheartening but unfortunately not surprising. While I learned the watered down version of history as a child, I did have the great opportunity to learn a lot of the true history (the sad, painful and disturbing parts) during my college years. My college did teach a lot of the realities of how scary and truly disturbing much of the US's history is. I read a lot and had read and studied a lot of what was shared in the videos and YouTube clips. While I had at least heard and read about almost each of the areas and instances of racism and bigotry and white supremacy discussed, I did not know anything about how the US stole Native American children. I am ashamed to have not known this and am grateful to have learned this painful part of history. The pain that stems from that for the children and their parents and families is unimaginable to most. This is truly generational trauma.
