Wow. This was heavy. I'm seeing more material here than I've ever seen in a US history book. Our current history books should be banned for the content they teach.
I'm really struck by the untold events like the bath riots. I'm also struck by the incarceration piece and Jim crow museum. having also seen 13th recently it bothers me how we keep finding ways to trap Black people and enslave them through the court system. We keep trying to make it legal to tear apart families and have disproportionate amounts of White success vs Black success. It's so plain to see with the redlining piece as well. How we section cities off and offer loans to more white people than we do to Working class black people.
But similar to my last reflection I'm wondering what my role is in helping to stop this . Even at my community level there had to be something I can do other than just talking to people about their racism...
