Just in the last few weeks have we seen the rescindence of brand icons such as Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben. In my lifetime, I have eaten at a restaurant called Li'L Black Sambos in Portland, OR. I used to deliver newspapers to addresses displaying Afr-Am jockeys in their front lawns. I even once had to be talked out of going to a Halloween party in blackface to complete a Rastafarian costume. We need to be vigilant in stopping an modern-day resurgence of Jim Crow-style imagery, whether that be in the form of video images or graphic arts.
