The history of racism such as red-lining is something that I was already pretty aware of but it was nice to learn more about those racist systems and policies. As a social worker, this is where our ethically mandate to advocacy is so important. I'm also very passionate about politics and this is one area where I see politics as INCREDIBLY important. Who we vote into office has the power to positively affect racist systems like housing, incarceration, education, etc. It's so important for us to learn about candidates, vote, and then hold candidates accountable.
