Now that you have viewed all of the content for Module 1, how much do you believe our history informs people's beliefs and behavior today? What information in this module stood out to you or impacted you the most?
I absolutely believe that our history informs our beliefs and behaviors. To me, a big problem is that many white people are ignorant of our true history. We have consumed a sanitized history or a history that says "that was all in the past and now it's fine". Until you learn that history and embrace the fact that there is a system put into place to keep people from experiencing freedom and justice, you will not act or change your behavior. There are also those who truly want to maintain the unjust system, and it will take people removing them from power and changing institutions to make sure their influence is removed and checked.
We need to learn history in order to prevent from repeating it. So many people ignore it that we keep "stumbling on the same stone" over and over
It's not due to the 'bad people' who set up the unjust systems that they persevere but due to the inaction, reluctance to act by the 'silent majority'.
