I was completely uneducated on the subject of redlining and while I had an good idea on mass incarceration, I found out that I didn't. I knew growing up that there were "good" and "bad" areas but didn't realize that they had been intentionally created.
What was most interesting to me however is my perception on where I live. When I tell people where I live, I hear "oh you are on the good side of town". This good side is an area with lower crime and good schools...it wasn't until I watched this video did I even realize that it is also predominantly white except for the limited "affordable" housing apartments where other races live.
I am rethinking a lot right now.
