I think that race can play a huge part in connecting poverty, educational opportunities and incarceration. Being a non-white individual in today’s society can affect the opportunities given to you and those individuals may not have the means to get a college degree or get as many job offers as others simply because of the color of their skin. The one video showed a white individual beating out his non-white opponent for a job simply because of his name. If African Americans are not given the opportunity for jobs or a proper education, this could lead to a life of poverty. Poverty can lead to a life of crime in order to better survive. Being in poverty could force you to live in certain areas that may be unsafe or lead you to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. It could also force you to make tough decisions in order to be able to properly survive (eat, drink, live). Overall, skin color can lead to education difficulties, which can lead to poverty, which can lead to incarceration.
