I was familiar with the idea of redlining but this really dived deep and connected it straight to systemic racism.
My struggle was connecting these dots before and I believe now I have the tools to better explain the connection, correlation and causation between them.
I do want to understand the "now what" part of the problem. I feel like I've been raised to identify and fix problems. And I am hesitant to approach others without a ready solution to the problem. Because I feel it is so easy for people to dismiss unsolvable problems.
Do we go after the banks and loan companies that are denying people the ability to buy houses ?
Do we go after policy makers that can erase or modify existing policies that allow for this level of discrimination?
Is it a combination of the two?
How do we help bigger school districts that have low taxes and are poorer to grow?
This leaves me with more questions than answers and I wish I had help in knowing "now what".
