Going into this training, I felt like I had a decent, basic understanding of America's history in relation to racism. Watching all of these videos continues to show me how much I have to learn. I was baffled to learn that there are aspects of things the U.S. did that were models for how Hitler ran concentration camps. My heart broke seeing the first hand stories of Native Americans who were ripped from their families simply because their culture was different. The worst part those, I believe, is that it is impossible to think these historical events, rules, and laws do not still impact our society today. We continue to be raised in a society that tries to engrain in us that different is bad, a threat, or wrong.
