I have spent my career working in the legal and finance fields, and currently work for a mortgage firm. Redlining is absolutely still a problem, and discrimination for economic opportunity is rampant. How do I know this? The government has laws in place to protect against discrimination; if there are laws against it, it still exists. And until we dismantle the societal norms that continually allow for actions contrary to those laws, those actions and the accompanying laws will always exist. We've set ourselves up for failure.
