This section really highlights how fragile the white ego is. When they didn't get their way, somone had to pay. The money and time spent on hatred toward peopel of color is sickening. Even for those who think they know about the history, this is a good reminder about how this trama lasts long beyond the time period. Listening to speeches over the last few weeks, what is standing out loud and clear is that chidren of color need to be taught to be wary of white people in order to be safe. This is heartbreaking to me.
