I grew up in rural Wyoming with migrant farmers and not far from a Japanese interment Camp, The Organ Trail and an Indian Reservation. know the history of the people connected me more to legislated racism and local bigotry. Thinking about what I had watched in this module with my high school daughter , launched a dinner conversation about why so much is missing in the textbooks and history class. We feel that systematic racism exists, because history is lost or written with prejudice. As an educator in a predominantly minority school, we need to change the narrative and embrace COMMUNITY OF CULTURE, not just Anglo christian culture and customs but a myriad of culture and customs to empower youth.
