In the context of this afternoon's live coverage in Atlanta of the DA's charges brought to the two officers involved in the murder of Mr. Rayshard Brooks, all I can think of is law and order. That is what sticks out to me from the video - the words law and order. Former Officer Rolfe not only shot Mr. Brooks twice in the back, but he finished things up by kicking him. Law and order. The second officer, Officer Brosnan, stood on Mr. Brook's shoulder or arm as he lay on the ground - why??? Law and order. Not only that, the officers tended to other things before checking on Mr. Brooks after he was shot, taking approximately two minutes between shooting and attending to the condition of Mr. Brooks. All I can think of is what was communicated in the video - that law and order is not about legality or justice - it's about skin color. Were Mr. Books white, he'd have lived to tell his grandkids about the time he fell asleep in his car at Wendy's and the police were called to check on him. Law and order. Now the next time(s) I hear the President utter his favorite words, "I'm the law and order President," I will listen and acknowledge his declaration with an informed mind and sickened heart.
