I'm not going to lie, it's pretty overwhelming. I think I cried only about 3 times. Maybe I shouldn't have watched all 7 videos in one sitting, ni modo.
As someone who immigrated here with his family before the age of 8, I remember growing up in American schools in Texas and being instilled that this is the land of the free and the home of the brave. Free like we're all free to do as we please from unjust persecution like the early Protestant Christians that settles here. Brave because Americans are courageous explorers pioneers that journeyed west coast empowered by their ideas of manifest destiny. From sea to shining sea. All of this emphasized time and time again in our schooling.
I would've much rather have had these content creators be my team of history teachers. Not sure if I would've handled all the details of the cruel agony that people put other people through but I think this information is critical to American History.
Just one of these videos is so incredible insightful into the question of American culture and are a wealth of
We forget the 2nd verse of the song you quote from sea to shining sea":
O beautiful for pilgrim feet
Whose stern impassioned stress
A thoroughfare of freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America!
God mend thine every flaw
Confirm thy soul in self-control
Thy liberty in law!
I had the same thought that I should have put a little time between each of the 7 videos. It's a lot of information to process.
