Watching through most of that video, most of the things felt expected...not that that makes it okay. But it was like, people were so publicly racist then, so they made and did horrible racist things.
But when he got to the context of the modern day images, reflecting those of the past - the "Rope" Obama poster made my eyes widen. I remember during his first election some of the racism (clearly not paying attention enough), but the fact that people were saying to put him in a noose, or to bring back Lee Harvey Oswald - like wtf.
The comparison shot at one point how similar things still are, really put in perspective why it's important to call all of that stuff out. That it's racist & not appropriate.
Also - why the heck are people still buying them as antiques?
