The question posed in the reflection "Do you think these historical events, rules, and laws still impact our society today?" really struck me as I began this reflection. Do I think they affect current society? How could I think they don't? To think white American society could enact such atrocities and this would have no ramifications on the current belief system is irresponsible and/or ignorance. I think (and pray) that some of the issue many white people face is that we're not taught this information in plain, truthful terms. I didn't learn of these things in depth until college and only because I sought it out. White people have been indoctrinated in a world of make believe and we have to take off those rose colored lenses sooner or later.
