I'm definitely not but what had the biggest impact on me was the atrocities that we perpetrated on the Indigenous nations of this land. It was so hard seeing the demonization of Indigenous parents being used as an excuse to steal children. It makes me think of the UN's qualifiers for genocide. Stealing children is on there. I wondered if that point was on there because of the USA, just like how we inspired Nazis by pouring kerosine on Latinx immigrants. Where do we get off espousing ideals of liberty and human dignity?
I had heard about J Marion Sims before this module and it makes me sick. I love my gynecologist. I am so lucky that I have doctors in my life who care about my health authentically. They even support my mental health. It makes me so sad and conflicted to see that the comfort I enjoy at the doctor's office came at the price of the lives and pain of hundreds of enslaved Black women.
Environmental racism is definitely something I'm familiar with but wanted to learn more about instances on a national and global scale. It was also my goal to learn more about indigenous issues so thank you for providing some resources on that.
