As I watched the videos, I wondered if this is just stuff I didn't remember learning about or if our history is something that was never taught in school as I grew up. It seems like a course in REAL American History should be a required class for college students - particularly for Social Workers! The videos on indigenous people and the genocide wrapped in sheep's clothing were the most disturbing to me.
I agree with your point. I did not learn about this history of groups of color. I am a wasp (white anglo saxon protestant) and was educated in a very waspy environment. I believe that families that went through this history pass it on to one another. But my education and family are rooted in white privilege,
It is a part of my history also because the class that I am a part of was responsible for the death and suffering of others.
