the shame of our country's recent past-- so quickly, we do not allow our nation to reflect, apologize, learn, and reframe our country's story to even begin to attempt to repair the vast harm done to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. When we do not acknowledge how racism has been built into the foundation of the United States, we bypass the well of grief and rage that swells and instead choose a more comfortable narrative. We have a choice in what stories we listen to and what stories we tell. We with white privilege must choose to be uncomfortable.
