These videos are a good insight of the past and showing us how history is continuing to repeat itself. These videos of our history are relatable to so many of the current events happening in our society right now. "Redlining" and Environmental Racism has turned into gentrification being done in the low income housing areas, immigration issues continue with DACA and wanting to build a wall, and American medicine continues to lack a consistent standard of care.
Good points about the way history is still with us. I saw Terry Crews on Seth Myers the other day, and he was describing his time in the NFL. He pointed out that most of the coaches were/are white. He said that whenever a Black player said they were injured, it was often assumed they were "BSing" and trying to get out of work. Whenever a white player said they were injured, there was immediate concern and access to medical care. I imagine this also plays out in health care settings, with Black patients not being taken as seriously by health care providers who would never consider themselves racist.
I am feeling a good amount of aggression inside after watching the videos in Module 1. Growing up in Norway I saw and heard enough of how the Jews were treated. This is no different, just history repeating itself in different molds.
