Although the walls appear to be coming down, the foundation still remains. Looking back at these historical events that have happened over the decades and centuries, it doesn't feel that we are that far removed from our past. The modern day detention centers in El Paso are somewhat similar to the Japanese American incarceration camps. The fight for equality gains momentum everyday. History does indeed repeat itself. The road ahead is long, it always has been when it comes to racism. However the more familiar we become with our past the better chance we have of not repeating it. Knowledge is power, the more awareness that is spread the bigger the issue becomes. We can all be better and provoke change. Strength in numbers.
