I think the goal of law and order is control.
I agree with the statement. If justice were the goal, then laws would be applied equally to every citizen. How much more evidence do we need to be convinced this simply isn't true. Peace and order will only come when we make it true.
A simple answer: no. And, rehabilitation is also not a goal of "corrections." Check recidivism rates over time, anywhere.
I agree. I believed that to be true before completing this first module and the module reinforces that. Law and order is a misnomer and could be more accurately named Keeping the powers that be in power.
I think the concept of 'law and order' can mean justice. The problem in America now is the the 'law' was created to be unfair and 'order' was not created to promote inequality. 'Law and order' in the United States for the past 400 years means keeping some people enslaved so that others can benefit.
For the term 'law and order' to equal justice, the laws must be fair, and order must be a concept agreed upon by all members of society.
