It's clear not only from these videos, but the current climate in America that the impact of past injustice continues to seep through the seams of American culture. As someone who has studied history, specifically the Holocaust, I see these trends utilized throughout the history of this stolen land but within different communities throughout our history. The American people/government put Japanese-Americans in camps during WWII. Today we use similar facilities for Latino/a peoples searching for refuge, knowing that where they are headed may not be the best choice but certainly better than where they are. We tout this idea of the American Dream but once someone who has color in their skin hopes for the same, it's crushed under historically strengthened nationalism and hatred. In our current climate, it seems as though we are patiently waiting for the administration or some group to commit the next unspeakable crime, which only further supports the complacency of racism and prejudice that is the "American Dream".
