I loved Ashley's video breaking down the way systemic racism drives all of our institutions today. Her point about slave patrols being the primary policing institutions in the south brings up a question that I've asked myself repeatedly in the past weeks: why is it that white americans (I would include myself in this for the majority of my life) are so eager to imagine a world without racism, but refuse to imagine what it might look like to have a world without police?
...especially since the police force has always had such a hand in perpetuating racism!
