I have long thought about how immigrants who have come to America and have been treated so badly, have turned around and done the same to the people coming after them. Italians, Irish, Greek - they have all suffered prejudice, until the next wave of immigrants appeared. Then that group was elevated, and the next group of immigrants became those who suffered. However, the Europeans, no how looked-down upon they were, they were Europeans. And the Africans always were looked down upon by everyone else. An implicit understanding that no matter how low on the rung of the ladder, they were always higher than the Africans. Only for the color of their skin.
