I've studied institutionalized racism & oppression for decades, & yet there is always more to be learned. I'm familiar with most of the information presented in this module, but the details about the beginning of Mexican/American border control was new & horrifying. American racism contributing to Nazi violence is disturbing, to say the least.
I'm encouraged that so much of this information is spreading in forms that are digestible for non-academics through media today.
I have never learned about a specific family in the Japanese camps during the 40s. This was a disgusting act our government pursued. I am just beginning my journey. I learned that police forces were initiated to catch runaway enslaved persons? THAT MAKES SENSE. The first official police force was established in 1883? So much to learn.
